Bassist Anthony Perez started his musical life in New York where he was born and raised. After moving to Florida and completing his Associates in Arts, he moved back to work on his Bachelors Degree in jazz studies at The New School for Social Research. There he spent valuable time studying with Steve Kirby, Rodney Whitaker, Armen Donelian and Bobby Sanabria. Since his graduation in 2001, Anthony has spent much time performing in many of New York’s clubs and music venues. In 2010-13 he continued his music education by completing a Masters Degree in jazz performance from New Jersey City University. There he studied with seasoned professionals including Andy Eulau, Edward Joffe, Joel Weiskopf, Pete McGuiness and Bill Kirchner. He has recorded and toured with pianist Oscar Perez’s group Nuevo Comienzo and has performed with Duffy Jackson, Wycliffe Gordon, Phoebe Snow, Doug Wamble and Dave Stryker.
